Bribie Island Satellite Hospital (Yarun)
Satellite hospitals provide an alternative healthcare model for managing low-acuity emergency care and chronic disease in a community setting closer to home.
The name, The name ‘Yarun’ originates from the Kabi Kabi and Djoondoburri people – Oondoo dialect ‘Yarun’ meaning crab or hunting ground.
As part of the 1st stage of opening, this facility offers the following services by appointment only:
- Kidney Health Services
- Day Medical Treatment Unit
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service
- Ngarrama Maternal Health
- Perinatal Mental Health
- Outpatient Mental Health Services
- Medical imaging
Every satellite hospital also has a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic that provides treatment for unplanned, non-life-threatening conditions such as:
- Simple fractures
- Simple infections
- Minor burns.
Minor Injury and Illness Clinics are open 7 days a week, do not require an appointment, and are free for Medicare card holders.
